The Weatherford Aero Modeling Society (WAMS) was founded as an Academy of Model Aeronautics (AMA) chartered club in 1986 (Charter #2267).

Visitors and spectators are welcome to our club meetings which are held the first Tuesday of the month at 6:30pm at the R&K; Cafe in Hudson Oaks, TX.

Visitors, spectators and youth groups are always welcome to visit us at our flying site and give RC flying a try. Our busiest flying days are Saturday and Sunday mornings and early afternoon, around 1-2pm. During the heat of the summer, late Sunday afternoon, around 6pm is popular. Family participation is heartily encouraged and is supported through out the year by club.

To encourage growth, the club has an active flying instruction program. Our instructors have special training aircraft and "buddy box" radio equipment available to help you enjoy a "crash free" introduction to RC flying. Don't have your own RC airplane yet? No problem! We'll let you use ours until you have decided to "jump in" to the fun! Help and advice is always readily available for the asking from our experienced modelers and instructors.

The club has several nationally recognized competition flyers, several AMA Contest Directors, AMA Leader-Members and AMA Life Members. Interests of the membership at large lies mostly in sport flying, including helicopters, Control Line models, but also in competitive Pylon Racing and Combat.

Just like most other organizations, the WAMS have the usual formal rules, regulations and by-laws. However, they can be summed up as follows: Be polite; Be sportsman-like; Be a good neighbor; and, If you brought it with you, take it home with you. But most important of all, Enjoy your hobby!
